Derrick began a life long-long love affair with flowers.
His talent has taken him on a journey far beyond the small town in Newfoundland where he began his apprenticeship over 30 years ago.

His talent has taken him on a journey far beyond the small town in Newfoundland where he began his apprenticeship over 30 years ago.
Designer, teacher, innovator and stage presenter - He has created and designed for celebrities and heads of state, and royalty with the same flair he uses at many of Canada's finest floral shops and event studios.

Locally, Derrick is a professor of Floral Design and program coordinator with Seneca College in Toronto, Ontario. He is an advocate for industry education, and has served on many industry committees. 2020 began with Derrick serving his third installment as the president of the Canadian Academy of Floral Art (CAFA). Derrick continues to mentor, teach workshops, and be involved in large-scale wedding installations. His skills are also evident in various showroom and merchandising venues throughout Toronto.
Globally, his skills are put to use travelling the world consulting on product development & selection, trends & styles, as seen in the marketplaces of North America.
Derrick is his authentic self. Always happy to share knowldege and has been referred to as the lovechild of Dame Edna and Simon Cowell. His humour and affable manner keep Foss in demand!
